Evangelical Profile

Rev. Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba is known as the pioneer of the Charismatic/ Evangelical Movement in Zambia. In 1980, he founded an evangelistic movement later named, Victory Ministries, International. Through this organization, he founded native local churches across his nation Zambia. He became the first local Evangelist to hold open air Gospel Crusades. He opened the first local Bible College. He became Zambia’s first television Evangelist in 1989. In 1993, He became the first Zambian minister to host an international interdenominational Conference, which brought delegates from all over the world. Rev. Dr. Nevers Mumba has continued to be a trail blazer to this day.

Zambia has since been declared a Christian Nation. Nevers Mumba is an internationally acclaimed speaker traveling the world sharing his flagship message that, “The SAME God who saves people from their sins, is the SAME God who can save a nation socially and politically.” His 40 year theme of “Zambia shall be saved” has endeared him to many Zambians. Rev. Dr. Mumba believes that, “the equitable delivery of goods and resources depends on the quality leaders.” He has championed the cause for morality and integrity in governance.

Academin Qualifications

  • Rev. Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA.
  • He holds a practical Theology Degree from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, USA.
  • He holds a diploma in Instrumentation from Copperbelt Energy Institute, Kitwe Zambia.
  • He holds an Honorary Doctorate in Theology from Full Gospel Christian Theological Seminary in Flint, Michigan, USA.

Politics

  • In 1997, In response to rising levels of corruption in government, Dr Nevers Mumba founded the National Christian Coalition, a political wing of ministry whose main objective was to educate and encourage men and women of morality to join politics to provide morality and integrity in governance.
  • The National Christian Coalition was later transformed into a political party, the National Citizens Coalition in 1998. Dr Nevers Sekwila Mumba contested for the Presidency of the Republic of Zambia in the 2001 Presidential and General Elections and lost to Mr Levy Patrick Mwanawasa. Dr Mumba became the first senior member of the Clergy in Zambia to become Vice President of Republic of Zambia in 2003. He later served as High Commissioner to Canada and the Carribean Islands where he was elected as the first Black President of Ottawa Diplomatic Group
  • Currently he is serving as President of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy, MMD, the former ruling party of Zambia and continues to serve as leader of Victory Ministries international with over fifty-two Branch Churches in Zambia.
